Custom Cut PVC Signs

Cut options are a fantastic way to enhance the shape of your plastic signs final design. Cut options are always optional and are not a requirement. If no cut option is selected, your signs will be cut into a standard square or rectangle.

Cut File Requirements

Some sign cut options, like circle and oval cuts, are just as easy as selecting a button, and these are automated finish options that help change the shape of additional signs. Whereas halo and special cut options require advanced artwork setup.

These "special" finish options will change the outside and inside shapes and produce PVC lettering; however, the manufacturing process does not allow for ADA compliance braille signs or offer engraved plastic signs. Here's a link to our guide on setting up cut files while using Adobe Illustrator.

Start a chat or let us know if you need professional designers to look at the files before your purchase to confirm the files are set up with the proper care required. Below are all our Plastic sign cut options; with so many finish styles, you will surely find the perfect fit for your project!

Plastic Sign Placement & Maintenance

Custom plastic signs can be used indoor and outdoor and will last much longer when the proper care has been applied. When identifying the best location to install your new rigid signs, try to find a place visible from the street and offer limited direct sunlight or avoid constant exposure altogether. Even though the UV ink will stand up to direct sunlight, it's always best to limit the signs time being constantly exposed to the sun. Taking these steps ensures the lifespan of your new eco friendly signs; now on to the cleaning!

Cleaning Items & Instructions

Cleaning a custom plastic sign is easy and doesn't take much time; here's a short list of things you'll need. This same list can be used for cleaning several different materials, such as corrugated plastic signs, expanded plastic signs, or any closed cell substrate or rigid signs.

Things You'll Need To Clean Plastic Signs

  1. Microfiber or damp cloth

  2. A bucket or large bowl

  3. Warm water

  4. Dish soap or any regular cleaning mild soap found in your kitchen

  5. Large dry towel

Cleaning a Plastic Sign Step by Step

  1. Start by adding some mild soap to the bucket or bowl

  2. Remove the plastic sign or any additional signs you'd like to clean from their installed location.

  3. If your sign has standoff holes, drilled holes, or holes for suction cups, remove the signs, avoid bending, and place them to the side for now.

  4. Keep your plastic signs far away from any sharp object, ensuring the sign avoids any damage or deep scratches.

  5. Get your damp cloth and wipe down the plastic sign; regular cleaning products work great for removing dirt and debris.

  6. Use the microfiber cloth to clean the inside of drilled holes; keeping the inside clean is just as important as the plastic sign's exterior.

  7. Use your large towel to dry any soapy water on the plastic signs.

  8. Repeat steps 4-6 until you have the results you are happy with.

Frequently asked Questions

What is a PVC sign?

PVC signs are a type of plastic signs that is used indoors or outdoor. Made of naturally-occurring plastic compounds, custom PVC signs can be printed on the surface with paint and then laminated to be weather resistant, but they can also be printed directly onto the material - double sided as well. Custom PVC signs are commonly used for real estate signs, restaurant signs, architectural signage, point of purchase displays, and more.

How long do PVC signs last?

Apart from their sleek appearance, the durability of PVC signs makes them the most popular material used in sign making. With proper placement, they typically last 6-12 months outside, but that can vary based on weather, direct sunlight, and material thickness. PVC boards are made from polyvinyl chloride and can be recognized by their smooth surface, which is not as rough as other plastics. PVC board signs can be found everywhere - outdoor applications, trade shows, retail stores, restaurant signs, and even your home! One reason why custom plastic signs are so common is that they're easy to manufacture and install.

Are PVC signs waterproof?

PVC is a type of plastic, which means it is not waterproof. It can be made to look like stone or other materials that are more durable and water resistant, but PVC itself will not withstand contact with water for long periods of time without deteriorating, though with proper placement, and if UV ink is used, it can last longer.

What are the benefits of PVC signs?

PVC is a very durable plastic type that can withstand harsh weather conditions. They are also lightweight and can be easily mounted onto a flat surface as indoor signage with some 3M tape or adhesive velcro. This makes them ideal for businesses looking to save on costs and time when installing their sign.

What is the difference between a PVC sign and a vinyl sign?

There is no difference PVC stands for polyvinyl chloride, hence the vinyl in polyvinyl. Some people are more familiar with one or the other, but they are the same thing.

Are PVC signs durable?

Yes, PVC signs are very durable. Plastic signs are water, weather, dent, bend, and crease-resistant. If mishandled or dropped, they can crack, so although plastic signs are durable, be sure to handle them with proper care. If your sign needs cleaning, clean it with a soft cloth and a mild soap.

What does PVC stand for?

PVC is short for polyvinyl chloride, a tough plastic substrate made of naturally-occurring plastic compounds. PVC board signs are fantastic for short to midterm outdoor signage since they are durable and weatherproof!

Are PVC signs good for outdoors?

Yes, PVC is great for short term outdoor signage (e.g. reailty signs, trade shows), but it is more suited to be mounted indoors with some double sided tape or adhesive velcro as a point of purchase displays, menu boards, architectural signage, and more. • 2mm
