Foam board printing looked awesome!
I don't usually complete these feedback requests. But I am super impressed. The website to place my order was very user friendly. I received the prints less that a week after I placed the order. And, the best part was how nice the prints are! I'm a photographer, have printed and framed a lot of my photos. The quality of these prints rival some of really expensive prints I've had done.
Poster arrived 3 days earlier than expected in perfect condition with excellent quality and true colors. Very satisfied and will use this service again.
Excellent support during the ordering process. Resulting product is very high quality and exactly to specs. We will be using them again.
Posterboard and foam board are materials that can be used to create a poster. Poster boards are typically made of cardboard, while foam boards are generally polystyrene or PVC. Poster boards have a more textured surface than foam boards, better for displaying intricate designs and colors. Foam boards allow for a smoother finish, making them ideal for printing photographs because they will not show any wrinkles in the paper from handling it so much.
However, some argue that poster boards are more of a traditional rolled poster mounted onto a foam board; this process is called photo mounting. Lamination is used for different finish styles like matte, gloss, or semi-gloss during this process. This technique is aged, and the poster paper tends to separate over time and degrade. Since then, advancements in technologies have taken over the printing industry. New cutting-edge flatbed direct UV digital cured printers and inks are the way if the future and photo mounting is now a thing of the past.
Foam board lasts for a long time, but the lifespan of foam board depends on how it is treated. If you store your foam boards in a dry place and out of direct sunlight they will last longer than if they are stored in humid places or outside.
Yes, all the materials can be printed directly onto the surface at 1000 dpi in full color. In the printing industry, using flatbed UV digital printers is referred to as "Direct to Substrate Printing."
Unfortunately no. At this time, the foam board does not come in black. However, we do offer a much more rigid product that is dent, bend, and crease resistant called Gator board. Foam board poster is another term for foam board printing, foam core board, or any other names you can think of for traditional foam board. There are many names for foam board posters, but the product is the same in the end.
Foam poster boards come in standard 3/16" thickness, 1/2", and 1/8". Standard 3/16" foam poster board is relatively universal and is widely used for presentations, tradeshows, or even pop-up displays. 1/2" foam board is used for wall mounting to add additional depth and avoid costly framing. If the intention is to frame your prints, then 1/8" foam poster boards are perfect for you!
Yes, you can frame foam poster board. The most critical aspect of this question is the frame itself! Standard foam board is 3/16" thick and maybe too thick to frame for some hardware. Whereas foam poster board in 1/8" is the perfect thickness for framing. Always double-check to confirm the depth of the frame for the required .125" clearance, plus the matboard and backing.
The start price of foam board with full-color direct print at 1000dpi costs $9.13 per sqft and can be as low as $3.65 an sqft.

A Gloss finish has a liquid coating applied to the board and appears to have a shiny sheen. At the same time, the matte finish seems flat dull and will drown out any glare from surrounding bright lighting. The finish is always a personal preference; however, always keep in mind the surroundings. If you are at a tradeshow with lots of lighting and plan to take pictures for social media, you may want to consider a matte finish. The matte finish will help knock down glare and allow for the highest quality photos. Overlighting is why the matte finish is always the preferred finish option for showroom settings or tradeshows.
