When you start to pick out décor for your home, you may not initially think of non-conventional materials, like Gatorboard or foam board; while the trend hasn’t taken over Pinterest yet, you’ll be sure to see more people personalizing their spaces with these amazing materials. Historically, Gatorboard and foam board printing has been used for commercial projects, because the materials are affordable and strong. Once the idea caught on, more people have begun using the materials for displaying their wedding photos or custom artwork. Some of the types of décor projects we recommend using board printing for include:

  • Displaying wedding or maternity photos
  • Exhibiting accolades, like your college degree
  • Showcasing original artwork or handwritten quote art
  • Creating picture collages or a living Instagram wall

What is Gatorboard?

Gatorboard is a more durable variation of foam board. With the same lightness, it can be hung on walls with little effort. Unlike foam board, it has rigid poly surfaces on either side, making it moisture-resistant and able to avoid warping. Gatorboard is a great option for displaying artwork or photos in kids' rooms, as its super durable, but light, so it couldn’t cause damage if pulled off the wall by little hands. It’s important to note that Gatorboard is not acid-free, so if you’re wanting to print something for archival purposes, we’d recommend another material.
