Aluminum Signs VS Dibond Signs?

Choosing the right sign for your business, project, or needs can feel like a loaded decision. Individuals and business owners alike realize it’s important to find signage that is cost effective, long lasting, but moreover… Foam Core Print has amazing options that will showcase your needs in an attractive and eye catching way.

A frequent question consumers have is deciding between Aluminum signs and Dibond signs (read more about dibond signs here).

Let’s start with Dibond Signs-

Dibond SignDibond signs are the ones you see as traffic signs. Dibond is a pre-painted enamel surface with a center core, which can be made into multiple shapes and colors, personalized or printed with customized photos, logos, or imagining. Dibond stands out for its weather resistance to the elements and ability to change its appearance by designing and formulating a signature look. Primarily an outdoor sign, it has a rigid composite surface which is patented but still lightweight and user friendly. Given the option, Dibond is often a premiere first choice as a multi use sign. Size And Shapes: Dibond comes in 1/8” and 1/4”

Aluminum Signs-

Aluminum Signs are a sign with the fuss. Yes, Dibond is considered a customizable and a modern fine tuned design, but Aluminum has been around for a long time and will continue to be a popular option for its strength and reliability.

aluminum signsTo visualize an Aluminum Sign, think of a parking or road sign, or license plate. Aluminum can be printed in color and generally has to do with a specific message or instruction, (ex., “Resident Parking Only”) verses a detailed advertisement or display. While Dibond is sometimes used indoors, Aluminum Signs are almost always outdoor-use signs which are resilient and present a more industrial and simplified look. The benefits of Aluminum’s durability is that it will look great for years to come. It can be single or double sided. Aluminum signs come in 1/16”.

  1. I’m looking for a sign for my business. Actually several signs. Assuming I want a DiBond sign, with text only,

    Item A) 3 feet by 5 feet
    Item B) 4 feet by 8 feet

The text will be the name of our business and the address.

Is there a reason we cannot use foam core outside? Does it fade or deteriorate?

    1. Colin says:

Hi, FoamCore is okay outside, but Dibond will last longer outside.
